Experiences
Under Construction
"I have loved working with the Civic Engagement Office. It has lead to so many neat opportunities which I definitely would not have pursued had it not been for this job. I think the tax program is such a great opportunity for both volunteers and the taxpayers and I think that these next few years will only get better as we expand our horizons in our goals for the program."

“During this semester, I definitely got valuable experience in working with a new kind of organization…This forced me to adapt to variety of different situations, from communication to carefully observing things around me in order to really gain an accurate picture of the type of organization that I would be working for and representing through my writing. Especially because I was able to work with such a small, young organization, I really feel that my work in researching and writing about the needs of the community and the organization’s ability to meet those needs will be a welcome contribution, and this is very satisfying…I was exposed to the many ways in which non-profit organizations must interact with, and leverage help from outside organizations, complicated governmental systems, and individuals in order to be successful. It was a really interesting view into a fascinatingly complicated but close-knit system.”

“I really enjoyed volunteering at the ACLAMO Toy Distribution event in Norristown. The staff were very warm and appreciative, and made me feel very welcome. As a Bryn Mawr student, I really benefited by getting away from campus and doing something good for another community. It was great to be exposed to another culture and community outside Bryn Mawr. It reminded me of home and the volunteer work that I have done there. It was great being around adults and young kids. I felt very comfortable at ACLAMO and would love to be a part of their relationship with Bryn Mawr.”
