CPIA - Bryn Mawr/Norristown Community Partnership in Action

History

In 2002, the Community Partnership in Action Intiative (CPIA) was established between Bryn Mawr College and various community-based organizations in Norristown. Since its inception CPIA has sought to connect faculty, student scholarship, educational field placements and volunteer services with the residents of Norristown. CPIA is constantly seeking to build relationships between these communties to facilitate a reciprocal sharing of assets and resources addressing the needs of both the community and the College.

CPIA is governed by a Working Group Which consists of representatives from the Civic Engagement Office, the Undergraduate Admissions Office, and the Graduate School of Social Work (Dean's Office, the Field Placement Office and the Admissions Office). The group meets regularly to discuss and plan partnership activities. Several times per year the group meets with members of the Community Advisory Committee to share updates and information about various projects, assess the effectiveness of current projects, and to brainstorm future activites.
