CSI School Admissions Testing

Staci Heindel, Ph.D., Co-Director

Kara Schmidt, Ph.D., Co-Director

Jessica Spatz-McNeary, Ph.D., School Admissions Coordinator

Many local independent schools require assessment of children’s cognitive abilities as one component of their admissions process. Cognitive abilities are generally assessed through administration of an IQ test, typically a Wechsler Intelligence Scale or the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale.

These tests are offered at the Child Study Institute. Our staff consists of a group of highly trained and experienced professionals, all of whom are Pennsylvania Certified School Psychologists. In the initial step of the process, a caregiver speaks by telephone with our intake coordinator, who will collect necessary background information and schedule a convenient date for the assessment. Appointments are typically scheduled for 9:30 A.M.  Before beginning the assessment, the psychologist spends some time talking and/or playing with child, so as to help him/her feel comfortable in the new surroundings. The psychologist then works with the child one-on-one for about 90 minutes, with breaks taken as necessary. After the child has completed the measures, the psychologist meets with parents to provide feedback and to answer questions. Within one week, a complete written report is sent to the caregivers, and to any schools they request.  Caregivers are welcome to contact the psychologist to discuss testing results further should they have questions after reviewing the report.

The cost of the assessment, verbal interpretation, and written report is $375.00. Our Certified School Psychologists are available Monday through Saturday mornings. Please call (610) 527-5090 to arrange an appointment.
