The Undergraduate Dean's Office promotes the academic and personal growth of undergraduates at the College. We work with students through their educational and personal Bryn Mawr journey, from matriculation to graduation. We recognize that learning takes place both inside and outside the classroom and understand that successes and struggles in one area are likely to affect other areas as well. We help students learn about available opportunities and resources and make decisions about when and how to take advantage of them.
It is also our mission to reinforce the values of the Bryn Mawr community. In our own lives as students, teachers, readers, and writers, we embrace the College’s commitment to a rigorous liberal arts education “as preparation for life and work.” With the faculty and staff of the College, we work closely with the Honor Board, the Self-Government Association, and a variety of student groups to develop a community “diverse in nature and democratic in practice.”
We carry out our work through both individual advising and broader programming. Students are encouraged to take responsibility for their lives here, a responsibility that includes consulting with their deans and other appropriate resources. At times, students will be required to see their dean for approval or permission, but students are strongly encouraged to consult their dean whenever they are unsure about any aspect of their life at Bryn Mawr.
Dorms open for returning students at 9:00am
