Support For Students with Learning Disabilities & Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder

Bryn Mawr is committed to educating diverse learners and welcomes students with learning disabilities (LD) and/or attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (AD/HD) who meet the College's admission criteria. Analytical writing, foreign language, and quantitative skills are fundamental competencies that all candidates for the Bryn Mawr A.B. must demonstrate. Although the College does not waive academic requirements, we do provide eligible students who have documented LD or AD/HD with reasonable academic adjustments, when necessary, to help compensate as much as possible for the effects of the disorder. The College also offers a system of educational support services for all students concerned about improving their academic performance.

To support a request for accommodations, students must provide Stephanie Bell, Coordinator of Access Services, with a current relevant report of a comprehensive evaluation by a qualified professional verifying LD or AD/HD and current deficits that have a substantial impact on their academic performance. Students are advised to submit their documentation and to request accommodations as early as possible to allow sufficient time for review and planning. Students who suspect they may have LD or AD/HD are encouraged to contact the Coordinator to discuss their concerns and options as well.
