Below is a list of online and print resources that we have complied to help you as you enter into the process of applying for fellowships.
Each fellowship foundation maintains an official fellowship website, which is absolutely the most important and authoritative source of information for that fellowship. The Bryn Mawr website provides important information regarding procedures and deadlines on our campus. In addition, you may find some of the following helpful.
Willamette University: good source of advice on all aspects of the fellowships application process.
Reed College: these pages focus on the Rhodes and Marshall, but the advice given about writing a good personal statement can be useful for all applicants.
Boston University: examples of successful essays for a range of scholarships.
Cornell University: searchable database of hundreds of fellowship opportunities, as well as good concise advice.
Google: It should be obvious, but . . . you can find a lot of information on Google! For example, type in Watson Fellowship Proposal, and you’ll find in the first few pages the web logs of several recent and current Watson fellows, along with their proposals, personal statements, etc.
Print Resources
Career Development Office: The Career Library includes numerous volumes related to graduate school and fellowships. An annotated bibliography is at http://www.haverford.edu/cdo/New/resources/CDO%20Library.pdf; click on Financial Aid or Graduate School to see descriptions of the holdings.
