The Sherman Fairchild Foundation provides funding for student conference travel for students pursuing work in biology, chemistry, geology, neuroscience, and/or physics. Students are required to present their research to be eligible for this award, either as a poster or as a panel presentation.
Note: This is the final year of Sherman Fairchild funding. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until June 19, 2016, or until funds are expended.
All students studying in the fields listed above are eligible for this conference funding (this includes participating Haverford students). Students are required to present their research, either as a poster or as a panel presentation. For graduating seniors, the conference must take place prior to commencement.
The grant will provide student funding for conference travel up to $1000. Students will be required to provide a budget of their anticipated expenses.
Below is a sample itemized budget. When submitting your budget, list your expense descriptions and their corresponding amounts. If unsure of the actual amount, please provide a researched estimate.
Total amount requested: $881.50
*Please take into consideration taking the most cost-effective form of transportation.
**For per diem meal and lodging rates, please consult the U.S. General Services Administration Per Diem Rates page.
While applications are accepted on a rolling basis, conference travel awards are processed according to the College Academic Year Fellowship Payment Schedule. Please visit http://www.brynmawr.edu/controller/forms_schedules.shtml#schedules for this schedule. Once the Dean's Office receives all application materials, the review process will take about 2 weeks.
