Seeing Your Dean

Contact Information for the Deans

First- and second-year students should meet with their deans at least once each semester to discuss course selection for the following term. Your dean can help you ensure that you're exploring departments that interest you and also making progress towards graduation.

Once you've declared a major, your departmental major adviser will have primary responsibility for academic advising, but your dean can still be helpful regarding any remaining divisional requirements, choice of electives, and other miscellaneous matters.

To schedule an appointment with your dean, please call the main office number X 5375 or simply come to the Undergraduate Dean's Office, and one of our administrative assistants will assist you.  Appointments are typically 30 minutes in length; specify if you would like more or less time for your appointment.

When you arrive for your appointment, please knock on your dean's door to let him or her know that you have arrived.  You do not need to check-in with the Undergraduate Dean's Office, unless you are scheduled for a meeting with Dean Tidmarsh.

Walk-Ins

Walk-In hours are available for quick questions and answers requiring 5-10 minutes.  An appointment is more suited for the discussion of more complex questions or issues, so please speak with the receptionist to set up an appointment if your situation requires a longer discussion.  Walk-Ins may also be useful if you have a question that requires immediate attention, and your own dean is not available.  Walk-Ins are seen on a first-come, first-served basis.  Please knock on your dean's door to let him or her know that you are waiting to be seen.

NOTE: Walk-In Hours must occasionally be cancelled due to scheduling conflicts. For more information, contact the Undergraduate Dean's Office at the number listed below.
