Choosing and Planning a Major

Exploring Independent Majors

At this session, students pursuing independent majors will talk about why they decided to design their own majors.  In addition, Dean Raima Evan, chair of the Independent Majors Committee, will talk about what the committee looks for in an independent major proposal.

Tackle Your Sophomore Plan

Reflective Writing for Sophomores

Learn about the objectives of reflective writing as well as effective techniques for writing about your interests, experience and goals.  This session will provide you with the building blocks you will need to compose your Sophomore Essay and personal statements for internships, research funding and other opportunities.

Resume Essentials for Sophomores

Internship Search for Sophomores

Come and learn how to conduct a successful search, as well as how to do an internship for credit through a Praxis 3 independent study course.  Learn how to use Lantern Link and LACN to uncover opportunities. Hear what employers are seeking from an intern.

NEW! Pre-Health Professions Advising for Sophomores

For sophomores at any stage of the pre-health professions track.  Interested students might include:  students who have just begun thinking about entering a health profession, students who had been on the pre-health track but are now exploring other options, and students who are continuing their preparations for pursuing careers in health in their sophomore year.
