Ms. Newburger studied city planning before taking up economics; later she worked for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for seven years. She is studying how discrimination and segregation affect the choices available to minorities in the housing market as well as the structure of the real estate industry itself.. Her teaching areas are public finance, microeconomics, and urban policy analysis.
