Act 48 of 1999 requires people who hold Pennsylvania professional educator certification to complete continuing education requirements every five years to maintain their certificates. Educators must receive six collegiate credits (a Bryn Mawr credit is equal to four collegiate credits) or participate in 180 continuing education hours (or a combination of the above) every five years.
Bryn Mawr College is an Act 48 provider. If you are a certified educator and seek to have your Bryn Mawr coursework count towards Act 48, please contact Ann Brown in the Bryn Mawr/Haverford Education Program at (610) 526-5376.
Bryn Mawr faculty or staff members who would like to offer Act 48 hours for workshops they provide that are open to K-12 educators may contact Ann Brown for information about the steps involved in applying to have the workshop count.
