Robin Newkumet, D.M.L.
Field Placement Coordinator and Student Advisor in the Education Program, Robyn Newkumet coordinates field placements and advises education students on the Bryn Mawr campus.
Robyn Newkumet was the Foreign Language Supervisor in the Lower Merion High School District for many years and has taught French at Lower Merion High School, Rosemont College, and West Chester University, where she also taught Foreign Language Teaching Methods. She has often supervised student teachers in their school placements. In addition to supervising student teachers, she sometimes works as the Subject Area Specialist for the foreign language students in Education 301: Curriculum and Pedagogy.
Workshops she has presented to foreign language educators have focused on student-centered learning and strategies for teaching reading and for improving speaking ability by integrating speaking and reading activities. Serving on the executive board of the Philadelphia area branch of the AATF for several years helped her keep in touch with French teachers and former colleagues.
Robyn Newkumet received her B.A. in Spanish from the University of Pennsylvania and her Master's degree in French from the Ecole Française of Middlebury College's Graduate Program in Foreign Languages, where she also completed a Master's degree in Spanish and a Doctorate in Modern Foreign Languages (DML). She completed the DEA at l'Université de Franche-Comté in Besançon, France.
