Guidelines for the Program
The following guidelines are meant to provide a structure that will contribute to the safety and security of all participants. For a printable copy of these guidelines, please click here.
If you have any specific questions, concerns, or ideas about these guidelines, please contact Professor Alice Lesnick, Director of the Bryn Mawr/Haverford Education Program and Faculty Coordinator, Student/Staff Educational Partnerships (alesnick@brynmawr.edu, 610-526-7944).
Meeting Places
The computer classes will take place in Dalton 20 (or another location TBA). Follow-up sessions with staff and student mentors may take place there or at another public campus computer or laptop set up in a location such as the campus center or Canaday Training Room.
ELP sessions may take place in a variety of campus settings, including the Campus Center, an unused classroom, one of the lounge areas in Bettws-y-Coed, a campus kitchen (if such facilities are needed), or another campus facility.
We expect that all meetings will take place on campus and not in students' dorm rooms. If participants wish to set up an alternative to this guideline, or if they pursue the service learning partnership through the Civic Engagement Office, they must check with the Faculty Coordinator (Alice Lesnick) and discuss the details of their plan with her.
Car Travel
It is important for program participants to know that if they travel together in a car, the owner of the car must be insured and will be liable in the event of an accident. College mini-vans are available for limited use by program participants; this option is preferable since in this case the College carries the insurance.
Conduct
Program participants must agree to respect one another's privacy, dignity, and safety. Any questions or concerns about this should be shared with the Faculty Coordinator.
