Projects and More
The ETC is a hive of technology activity. Here are some of the things we've done recently.
Web development is Mike Zarro's primary purview and, with the help of Annalisa Allegretti, they have completed several important projects. Perhaps the highest impact project and most noticeable to students and faculty is the redesign of the Library web site. They also created a web development site, redesigned the Gender and Sexuality Studies site, reworked the admissions pre-application, which eliminated the need to use a 3rd-party vendor. Mike assisted with the development of a new CSEM registration program which will greatly reduce the manual labor involved in sorting students into their CSEM courses this fall.
Laura has been blogging about technology and education issues as well as news about what's going on in the ETC. She and her colleagues continue to podcast. In the fall, Laura gave a presentation on blogging in the classroom at the WebCT User's Group Meeting at Villanova (her powerpoint, screencast of entire panel). An article Laura authored about the use of technology in small liberal arts colleges appeared in Inside Higher Ed. In January she gave a presentation at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Educause Conference on the use of screencasting and podcasting in education. Currently, she and the ETC team are preparing for SMDI 2006.
