Using the assignment feature can help you track and grade assignments.
Here are the basic steps:
- Create a new content area for your assignments.
- Go to control panel.
- Click on Manage Course Menu.
- Choose Add Content Area.
- Name it and then click submit.
- To add an assignment, return to the control panel.
- Click on the link for the newly-created assignment area.
- From the drop-down menu on the right, choose Assignment and click the "Go" button.
- Name your assignment and type up instructions.
- Click submit.
Using the assignment feature will automatically generate a gradebook column for
the assignment. To grade your assignments, following these steps:
- Go to the control panel.
- Under Assessment, choose Gradebook.
- You will see the column for the assignment. Students who have submitted the assignment will have an exclamation point underneath the column.
- From here, you have two options.
- You can grade the assignments one at a time by clicking on the exclamation point for that student. This will show you a row for this student. You can then click the view button (on the far right). This will take you to a page where you can download the assignment, enter feedback and/or submit a file with further feedback, and enter a grade.
- You can also download all the assignments at once by clicking on the column title. Then click on the "Item Download" link. Students who have submitted the assignment will have a little checkbox next to their names. You can opt to check all, check ungraded or simply check individual students.
- When you click submit, you will be taken to a screen with a link to download all the files.
- The files are zipped up. On your desktop or wherever downloads are saved, you will find a zip file with all the files in it. When it's unzipped (usually by double-clicking), you will end up with a folder with all the files in it. You will see the assignment itself, plus a text file that will contain any comments made by the student.
