Athena’s Web, provided by the Alumnae Association, is a new way to connect with friends and communicate through *Messaging*, *Photo Albums*, and membership in *Groups*

One can register on this service, become a member of the Class of 1960 group (which in the lingo of the site is an organization) and send messages to all other registered members.

This is a way to accomplish one of the things we discussed during our reunion that would be fun - an exchange of interesting books we have read.

This is the web address for Athena’s Web:

http://athenasweb.brynmawr.edu/

Here are some of the things you can do with the Athena's web.
1 - join
2 - do stuff
3 - ask to be a friend to someone
4 - join a group.

Here are some suggestions.
For 1 – To register you click on http://athenasweb.brynmawr.edu/
Then click on the Register tab at the bottom of the larger window.  Fill out the information requested.

For 2 - you have registered - enter your email and password in the window on the left. You are then directed to the HOME page.  To view your specifics, such as your profile, your friends, your groups, etc. click on the various tabs across the tope of the page.

For 3 - to add a friend - you can type that person's name in the search box.  If it is found, a window opens and provides two options
a - add XX as a friend.  You can type a small message and there is a longer standard message that goes with it. Or
b – email to  XX

For 4 - Click on the groups tab.  In the Browse Groups window, select Category -- Organizations and then find Class of 1960.  If you hate to search a random listing, just click on the words Group Name and the list will be arranged alphabetically.  Right under the words Class of 1960 you will see -- add to my groups.  Click on this and you will be added.  If later you decide you do not want to be a group member, the same window, right under the name of the group includes the option to remove yourself from the group.

Once you have joined a group it will appear in the small box at the upper left of the screen when you click on the Groups tab at the top of the home page.
The number in ( ) is the present number of group members.
At this moment there are entries in the Posts page (a welcome note from me), in the Albums page (and album with my name that contains one picture I have posted.  There will be more) and in the Members page showing the names of the current group members.
There are no events.
The settings tab is for you to choose how to be notified of changes in the group. You can change these by clicking on EDIT at the bottom of the page. The forward or notify boxes let you choose whether to be notified once a day, or immediately, or... of changes.  The Send To is which email you wish to have the messages sent to - for those who are fancy enough to have both a personal and a business email.  Your emails are given at the top of this page in case you wonder what you have entered.
