Major in Geology with a Concentration in Environmental Studies (ES) at Bryn Mawr College

The following four classes are required for all ES Concentrators, regardless of major:

 GEOL 103 Environmental Geology

 CITY 175 Environment and Society

 BIOL 220 Ecology

 GEOL 397 Environmental Senior Seminar

The following courses are required for the Geology major with ES concentration:

 GEOL 101 Physical Geology

 CHEM 101  OR   CHEM 103 General Chemistry I (circle one)

 CHEM 104 General Chemistry II

 GEOL 202 Mineralogy

 GEOL 302 Aqueous Geochemistry OR GEOL 328 Geospatial Data Analysis (circle one)

 GEOL 403 Independent Research (thesis project, fall semester senior year)

 Two additional 200-level geology courses :

All ES concentrators choose two environment-related courses from outside the natural sciences.

  One of these should cover topics related to Planning and Policy, e.g.,

POLS/CITY 222, Introduction to Environmental Issues

  One should address issues of Humans in the Environment, e.g.,

HIST/CITY 237, Urbanization in Africa
