Giving to Bryn Mawr

A renewed opportunity . . .

GIVE WISELY through your IRA

Take advantage of a tax-free charitable transfer from your IRA and make a gift to Bryn Mawr College.

The IRA Charitable Rollover was extended under the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008. If you are 70 ½ or older, this provides a great opportunity for you to make a gift to Bryn Mawr College using funds transferred directly from your individual retirement account—without paying taxes on your distributions.

The IRA Charitable Rollover is a tax-wise way to make your gift to Bryn Mawr:

  • The charitable distribution counts toward minimum required distributions.
  • The transfer generates neither taxable income nor a tax deduction, so even those who do not itemize their tax returns receive the benefit.
  • You may transfer up to $100,000 per year in 2008 and 2009 directly from your IRA.

Your gift provides essential support for the Annual Fund, financial aid, faculty salaries, and the College’s historic buildings. To take advantage of this gift opportunity, notify the financial institution that manages your IRA account and direct them to transfer a gift directly to Bryn Mawr College.
