Support for archaeological field work.
In 2004, Alwin bequeathed the proceeds of the sale of property valued at $20,000 to Bryn Mawr. In addition, he established a testamentary lead trust whereby Bryn Mawr will receive the income from a mineral trust for 20 years, valued at approximately $236,000. The bequest and lead trust income are being used to establish an endowed fund to support archaeological field work. In establishing this endowed fund, Alwin chose to honor his sister, M. Elizabeth Carus '19, his grand niece, Christine Carus '81, and James C. Wright PhD '78, Professor of Classical and near Eastern Archaeology.
