Fundraising Volunteers

Bryn Mawr has a long history of alumnae leadership and volunteerism. The Annual Fund was originally established by the Alumnae Association, which was independent of the College, to raise funds to support both the Association and the College. While staffing of the Annual Fund is now a College function, the leadership roles are still rooted in Bryn Mawr's tradition of alumnae volunteer service.

Development Committee of the Board of Trustees

  • Co-Chairs: Denise Hurley '82 and Beth Springer '86
  • Annual Fund Chair: Christy Allen '90 (June 2011-May 2014)
  • Position elected by the Bryn Mawr College Alumnae Association.

Caroline McCormick Slade Society

  • Committee Chair: Amy Loftus '90 (June 2010-present)

The Slade Society recognizes individuals who make leadership gifts of $2,500 or more to the Annual Fund. Comprised of only 7% of the Annual Fund's donors last year, these generous individuals provided 72% of $5.2 million raised.

Committee members work throughout the year to promote membership in the Slade Society through individual calls and visits. The committee meets annually and participates in monthly teleconferences.

Class Chairs

Working with the College's Annual Fund staff, Class Chairs write letters and contact classmates to encourage and thank them for their support for Bryn Mawr. Most Class Chairs write mailings in the spring and play an active role in organizing reunion gift programs, and many lead a team of class volunteers.

Traditionally Class Chairs are elected by the class at reunion, but many volunteer and assume the duties as needed. If you would be interested in volunteering please contact the Annual Fund Office at 610-526-7396.

Reunion Gift Chairs and Committees

Reunions are a special time to renew old friendships, to reconnect with classmates, and to revive the shared Bryn Mawr connection. Classes celebrate the College experience through special gift drives, and thus ensure that future generations of students enjoy the same educational opportunities they receive. Gift committees and their chairs work with the Annual Fund and Resources staff in building a meaningful class gift.
