Personal Statement:
A graduate of the Film Studies Program in the Department of Rhetoric, Professor King is preparing a book manuscript based on her dissertation, "Effaced Figures: Authorship and the American Cinema," which theorizes a new methodological approach to filmic authorship on the basis of detailed case studies of the films of Josef von Sternberg, Douglas Sirk, John Cassavetes, and Andy Warhol. She also has prepared for publication an essay on the Canadian photo-installation artist Jeff Wall.

Since coming to Bryn Mawr she has been active in developing an undergraduate minor in Film Studies. Her courses embrace the areas of World Cinema, American film History, Film Theory, Psychoanalytic Theory, Modern Rhetorical Theory, Post-Structuralist Theory, and Feminist Film Theory.
