The Faculty
Research Pool is for the remuneration of
minor expenses related to research and publication. Tenured, tenure track and
continuing faculty may claim up to $200 per year. Professors holding named chairs may have
other research funds and are not eligible to apply. Nona Smith, Director of Sponsored Research,
administers the fund.
College research grants
provide support for larger research projects. Faculty members are encouraged to
apply to the Committee on Faculty Awards
and Grants and compete for the $50,000 that is available for faculty
support. The Committee reviews all proposals and makes recommendations to the
Provost, who makes the final decisions.
To apply for a grant, submit
to the Office of Sponsored Research by early February:
- the grant application form
and
- six
copies of the following
- a one to three page description of the
research project, including justification of need and plans for
publication,
- a current curriculum vitae,
- a detailed budget and timetable,
- a list of all funds
received from all sources at the College for the last 5 years, indicating
the type or name of the award and the amount received for each.
- a list of any
proposals submitted to outside agencies for this project. Indicate any overlap of funds requested
between those proposals and this one.
The maximum request is $5,000, but the award may be
substantially less than this amount in order to distribute the funds available
as widely as possible. Carefully review the Grants website for more
detailed information and guidelines. Click for a list of recent awardees and their
projects.
