STUDENTS' PRESENTATIONS AND PUBLICATIONS

 

Evgeny Dengub (Russian) presented a paper titled “Ethnic Self-Identification of Heritage Speakers of Russian in the United States” at the annual meeting of the American Association of Teachers of Slavic and Eastern European Languages (AATSEEL), held in December 2006 in Philadelphia.

Irina Dubinina (Russian) presented a paper at the same AATSEL meeting on “Communications and Consequences of Negotiating a Language Choice for Interpersonal Communication in the Republic of Moldova.”

Kimberly Fedchak (Russian) presented the results of her research at the Fourth Annual Symposium on Teaching and Learning Languages to Native-like Levels of Proficiency that took place in November 2006 in Washington, D.C. Her presentation was on “New Russian Frontiers: Mapping the Terrain of Non-Native Russian Speech at the Distinguished Level.”

 

Alisa Horwitz (Clinical Developmental Psychology) presented her work on “Relational Family Values: an Investigation in Class” at the Steel Cities Conference Tradition Transition and Transformation held in Sheffield (U.K.) in June 2006.

Eric Hutchinson (Greek, Latin and Classical Studies) gave a talk on “Jerome and Augustine” at the international conference Jerome of Stridon - Religion, Culture, Society and Literature in Late Antiquity. The conference, held in July 2006, was organized by the Center for Late Antique Religion and Culture at Cardiff University.

 

Kristin Lindgren (English) presented a paper titled “Scheherazade Syndrome: Illness and Storytelling” at The Patient: An International Symposium at Bucknell University that took place in October, 2006.

 

Evrydiki Tasopolou (Classical and Near Eastern Archaeology) presented a paper titled “Seals and Crocodiles: The Notion of Naturally Deformed Animals in Classical Greek Culture” at the conference Freaks! Exploring the Unnatural in the Ancient World held at UCLA in November 2006.

Angela Ziskowski (Classical and Near Eastern Archaeology) gave a talk on “Debating the Origins of Colonial Wives in Sicily and South Italy” at the conference The Mythology and Iconography of Colonization held at the Villa Vergiliana in Cumae?
