Advanced Standing Program

Sign up to receive our brochureThe GSSWSR is accepting applications for our new Advanced Standing Program to begin in the 2008-09 academic year. Advanced standing students will be admitted to the clinical social work and social service management concentrations only, and may apply to our Child and Family Well-being specialization.

Application deadline March 1, 2008

I.   Application Requirements

 

  • Must have completed BSW within 5 years of application
  • Minimum overall GPA of 3.25
  • All Regular Application Expectations (Essay, Transcript, Interview)
  • Three recommendations that must include:
    • a recommendation from your B.S.W. program director;
    • a recommendation from your most recent B.S.W. field instructor;
    • a recommendation from a professor.
  • All application materials are due by March 1 including first semester grades.

 

II.   Potentially Transferable Courses - Contingent on Completion of Appropriate Course Work with Grade of B or Higher and Review of Syllabi by Faculty Teaching in Specific Curricular Areas

III.   Course of Study

Summer:

Integrative Practice (10 weekly class sessions beginning mid-June )

Field Instruction (3 days a week/10 weeks beginning mid-June)

Fall:  

Clinical Social Work I or Social Service Management I or Policy Practice and Advocacy I

Field Instruction (3 days/week, continuing at the same placement as in the summer))

Two Electives

Any needed Foundation Class for which transfer credit was not granted

Spring:

Clinical Social Work II or Social Service Management II  or Policy Practice and AdvocacyII

Field Instruction (3 days/week - continuing at the same placement as in the summer and fall)

Two Electives

Any needed Foundation Class for which transfer credit was not granted.
