Health Center Services

The Health Center hours are 9 to 5, Monday through Friday. A Registered Nurse is available on-site 24 hours a day when school is in sessions for urgent problems. A physician and a counselor are on-call 24/7 for emergencies. Medical, gyn, and counseling appointments and services are available Monday through Friday during the daytime. Emergency Care

Health Center emergencies are handled 24 hours a day - call x7360. A physician and a counselor are available 24 hours a day, either on site or by phone for consultation with the nurse. For emergency help or transportation, call Public Safety at x7300.

Nursing Services

Nurse Walk-in hours - 24 hours a day

  • Examination & treatment for students with common, minor health problems
  • Emergency care and/or referral for sudden or severe health problems
  • Information on health issues and self-care measures and answers to health-related questions
Same-day Appointments & Monday Morning Walk-in Clinic

Hours:

  • Monday: 9 - 11 am: Walk-in Clinic
  • Tuesday, Wednesday, & Friday: Same-day Appointments

Monday mornings are "Walk-in" times - no appointments.

Same-day appointments are available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Please call in the morning on the day you want an appointment, between 9 am and 12 noon, to make a same-day appointment. Walk-ins with urgent problems will also be accepted, however those with appointments will have priority (except, as always, in the case of a true emergency).

The Physicians & Nurse Practitioner provide care for students:

  • Who feel their problem requires physician or nurse practitioner care
  • Who have been referred by the nurse for care
Gyn Care

Hours scheduled by appointment - call x7360

The Gyn Nurse Practitioner provides:

  • Well-woman care & pap smears
  • Discussion with students concerning sexuality and normal development
  • Contraceptive counseling
  • Education, confidential testing, & treatment for sexually-transmitted infections
  • Testing & referral for pregnancy
Counseling Services

Individual counseling services are made by appointment - call x7360
Every full-time undergraduate student is allowed up to six counseling sessions free of charge each year. Additional appointments are on a sliding fee scale.

No student is ever denied needed care because of an inability to pay.

All counselors specialize in issues of young adults, including eating disorders, cultural, racial and sexual identity concerns, and relationship problems, as well as general counseling services.

Inpatient Services

Inpatient care is provided at the Health Center for students too ill to be in the dorm, but not a candidate for inpatient hospital care. There is a charge for this service of $100 a night, which may be covered by the family insurance.

Sleeper Policy: Bryn Mawr College students may use the Health Center as a quiet place to rest for $15 a night if a room is available. This fee does not include meals or nursing care.
