During the school year, the Health Center is open Monday through Friday from 9 AM until 10 PM. The Health Center is also open from 9 AM until 3 PM on Saturdays and Sundays.
Our medical, gyn and counseling services are available weekdays from 9 AM until 4 PM. A registered nurse is available all other weekday hours, with access to on-call physicians and counselors.

If you have an urgent medical concern that cannot wait until the Health Center reopens at 9 AM, go to the Emergency Room at Bryn Mawr Hospital.
If you have urgent counseling concern that needs to be addressed before 9 AM, call ProtoCalll, the contracted on-call counseling service, at 610-526-7778.
A nurse is available any time the Health Center is open and provides the following services:
Examination & treatment for students with common, minor health problems
Emergency care and/or referral for sudden or severe health problems
Information on health issues and self-care measures and answers to health- related questions

Tuesday, Wednesday, & Friday: Same Day Appointments
Monday mornings are "Walk-in" times - no appointment is necessary.
Same-day appointments are available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Please call 610-526-7360 between 9 AM and 12 NOON on the day you want to be seen to make a same-day appointment. Walk-ins with urgent problems will also be accepted, however those with appointments will have priority (except, as always, in the case of a true emergency).
The Physicians & Nurse Practitioner provide care for students:
Who feel their problem requires physician or nurse practitioner care
Who have been referred by the nurse for a higher level of care

The Gyn Nurse Practitioner provides:
Well-woman care & Pap smears
Discussion with students concerning sexuality and normal development
Education, confidential testing, & treatment for sexually-transmitted infections
Testing & referral for pregnancy
Individual counseling is by appointment. Call 610-526-7360 between the hours of 9 AM and 4 PM to schedule an appointment. There is a $20 charge for counseling appointments cancelled less than 24 hours before the scheduled appointment.
Each undergraduate student can receive up to six free sessions. The six free sessions will be used for assessment, treatment planning and appropriate referral if indicated. A student will be billed for any sessions beyond six. She will receive an insurance-ready receipt which can be submitted to her private insurance for possible reimbursement. We do not directly participate with any insurance programs. Any bills not paid within 30 days will be transferred to the Comptroller's office as a "Health Center Charge". Suggestions for Using Your Insurance for Therapy Sessions All graduate students and Post Bacs can receive a free initial consultation with a counselor for appropriate referral to community providers.
In cases of financial hardship, the fee for counseling may be reduced. No student is ever denied service because she can not afford payment.
All counselors specialize in issues of young adults, including eating disorders,sexuality, cultural, racial, gender identity concerns, and relationship problems, as well as general counseling services.

ALL STUDENTS MUST HAVE A COMPLETED PHYSICAL EXAM FORM ON FILE AT THE HEALTH CENTER TO RECEIVE SERVICES.
Except in the case of a life-threatening emergency, the Health Center will not release information to anyone including parents, family, police, employers, faculty or administrators, unless the student provides consent.
The following services are available free of charge to all matriculated undergraduate students enrolled in the college health plan:

No student will be denied needed health care or counseling because of an inability to pay.
The student health insurance will pay some portion of the fees charged by physicians outside the Health Center when the student is referred by the Health Center caregivers. Routine health care (dental or vision check-ups, etc.) or elective visits to a specialist (e.g. for acne or allergy testing) are generally not covered by the BMC student health insurance.
