During my internship with Our Lady of Lourdes, I worked on a project with the Community Health Practice free clinic. In attempts to tarket prevalent chronic illnesses in Camden, NJ, I increased the clinic's number of cancer screenings for men and women by scheduling them for four screening days. I designed a general health-screening brochure in Spanish and English for patients to read and gain more understanding of chronic illnesses and the importance of early detection. I also designed a Patient Good Health Agreement for patients to sign for them to understand that it is best to listen to their physician's recommendations for a healthier life. In order for the patients of the clinic to understand the various documents I implemented, I made sure all forms were made with the the health literacy of the patient in mind. Additionally, I volunteered, and still continue to do so, at the free clinic on Thursday evenings translating for physicians and patients, making sure the front desk ran smoothly and addressing patient concerns as to keep the large traffic of patients through to the director at a minimum.
