Internship: Lourdes Center for Public Health
During my internship at the Lourdes Center for Public Health, I was able to participate in a wide range of projects that allowed me to be in contact with doctors, patients, and administrators. My main project was with Project HOPE, a clinic for the homeless, and my role was to create two surveys to identify the geographic layout and the medical needs of the homeless population. I also worked on a project to promote breastfeeding which involved helping a fellow intern with a survey she had written and was administering as well as creating posters and tabling for World Breastfeeding Week events that were being held at the medical center we were working with. From this internship, I had the opportunity to work with administrators, doctors, nurses and patients. I was able to participate in and see how the field of public health operates from every perspective.
