My Hepburn Internship with N Street Village was very rewarding, as I had the opportunity to share what I have learned in the classroom in a real-life setting. I interacted and formed relationships with women from all walks of life. I gained confidence in my own ability to facilitate groups and trust my instincts and observations by participating in weekly clinical staff meetings. Beyond psychology, I learned more about federal governmental policies regarding welfare and healthcare and the disparities amongst the population in the same city in which I grew up. My internship with N Street Village opened my eyes up to those who frequently are forgotten and also shined light on all the good Samaritans who give back to those in need. There are simply some things that cannot be learned in a classroom setting and my Hepburn Internship with NSV gave me the opportunity to experience some of those lessons. I look forward to returning to the classroom and relating my summer experiences to my studies.
