Access Services Coordinator
Bryn Mawr College seeks an Access Services Coordinator to serve as the primary resource for students, faculty, staff, and visitors with disabilities, and as resource to the campus community with regard to issues of disability, equal access, and reasonable accommodation.
This is a ¾ time position with full benefits and has the possibility of going full time in the new fiscal year (June 2013).
Responsibilities:
- Coordinates support services and reasonable accommodations for students, visitors, and guests with disabilities. Also collaborates with other College offices to provide accommodations for employees with disabilities.
- Develops and implements policies and procedures, in accordance with relevant laws and regulations, to address the needs of individuals with disabilities and to ensure consistent services throughout campus.
- Consults with students, faculty, administrators, and staff about access issues and reasonable accommodations.
- Gathers and evaluates documentation of disability to confirm eligibility for accommodations and to help identify reasonable accommodations, in consultation with the student and with other campus professionals when necessary.
- Provides individualized support to students with disabilities as needed.
- Remains abreast of new developments in the field of disability services.
- Educates the community about Access Services, and issues of disability and equal access by serving on committees and participating in presentations and events.
- Chairs a College Access Advisory Committee regarding campus-wide access issues and priorities.
- May play a role in Title IX coordination.
- Performs other job related duties as assigned or directed.
Skills, Abilities, Experience, and Education:
- Leadership experience in program management and development in the area of college access services.
- Experience providing individualized support to students to foster their development of learning, study, and organizational strategies.
- Strong knowledge of relevant laws and regulations pertaining to equal access for individuals with disabilities.
- Superior interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a wide range of community constituencies.
- Ability to work effectively in a complex, multi-dimensional environment, with numerous and varied facilities.
- Experience using file management, word processing, and other appropriate software.
- A commitment to working with a diverse population and an understanding of and belief in the value of a rigorous liberal arts education.
- Advanced degree in an appropriate field strongly preferred. Bachelor’s degree required.
