Collections Manager for Art and Artifacts
Information Services
Bryn Mawr College seeks an experienced museum collections manager to oversee the inventorying, cataloging, preservation, and administration of its extraordinary collections of art works, archaeological and ethnographic objects, and minerals. Bryn Mawr’s art and artifact collections consist of approximately 50,000 items, and include significant holdings of works of art on paper; Classical and Near Eastern antiquities; ethnographic objects from Africa, the American Southwest, and Peru; decorative objects from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries; and minerals collected from around the world. The collections program plays an important role in both undergraduate and graduate education at Bryn Mawr, with faculty and students using the collections in classes and for research projects, and students serving as interns and curatorial fellows.
The Collections Manager will provide leadership in planning and implementing a major upgrade of the College’s system of managing and controlling the collections. The leading priorities are inventorying and cataloging the collections, acquiring collection management software, and providing public online access to collection information and images

-
Partner with the Curator/Academic Liaison and other members of the Special Collections Department to set priorities, policies, and procedures for cataloguing, preservation and security of the collections.
-
Play an active role in the development of grant proposals for the cataloging and preservation of the collections.

-
Create, organize, and maintain forms, legal documents, and files associated with the donation and use of the collections.
-
Supervise student assistants and interns.
-
Assist the Curator/Academic Liaison in engaging faculty and students with the collections.
-
