POSITION TITLE: Interim Assistant Director of Field Education
Part-time, 21 hours per week
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Works in conjunction with the Interim Director of Field Education to identify and recruit field placements for GSSWSR students that meet curricular and CSWE requirements as well as student learning needs.
Position would begin starting January 7, 2013 until July 1, 2013.
REPORTS TO: Interim Director of Field Education
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work collaboratively with Field Education team to provide educationally viable field placements for students in accordance with CSWE EPAS standards.
- Maintain contact with existing Field Placement sites to secure internship slots for 2013-14.
- Identify and recommend new field placement sites.
- Assist in evaluating Field Instructors experience, qualifications and credentials.
- Interview MSS students to determine matches for field practicum for following academic year.
- Correspond as needed with prospective Field Instructors, students and Liaisons.
- Provide assistance and feedback on Field Education process, goals, evaluations, policies and procedures.
- Help monitor concerns in field from liaisons and students.
- Visit field sites as necessary to help assess appropriateness and to maintain community connections.
- Assist in problem-solving difficulties that arise in field practicum.
- Assist in the preparation of field Liaison Meetings.
- Attend and participate in GSSWSR bi-weekly staff meetings
- Meet regularly for supervision with Interim Director of Field Education.
- Interface and actively work with field education staff and Dean’s office.
- Help monitor risk management issues in the field.
- Acquire knowledge necessary for effective use of technology (webmail, Moodle, etc) as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned or directed by Dean and Interim Director of Field Education.
Qualifications: All candidates must have a minimum of a master’s degree in social work and two years post-master’s experience working in a social service agency. Preference will be given to individuals with previous experience as a field instructor or field liaison in a graduate social work program. Successful candidates will possess effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with others both within and outside of academia. Candidates should also have excellent written and oral communication skills. Salary to commensurate with experience.
