POSITION OBJECTIVE: Reporting to the Associate Director of Admissions for Communications and Campus Visit, the Senior Assistant Director plays an important leadership role on the CCV Team. The Senior Assistant Director manages the day-to-day functioning of both admissions on-campus events and the campus visit experience, working with the Associate Director and others on the team to ensure an exceptional, authentic experience for prospective undergraduate and graduate students and their family members.  The Senior Assistant Director also plays an important role in support of the office’s communications efforts, supporting the work of the Associate Director as needed. Finally, the person in this role exercises general admissions professional duties to facilitate the recruitment and admission of diverse and academically qualified undergraduate and graduate students.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

As a key member of the Communications and Campus Visit (CCV) Team, reports to the Associate Director for CCV and plays an important leadership role on the team. This includes:

  • Provide daily direct management of the campus visit and special events.
  • Directly oversee the recruitment, interviewing, hiring, training, and supervision of student tour guides during the academic year and summer months.
  • Directly manage all components of the daily campus visit experience, including but not limited to the following:
    • Coordinate scheduling for information sessions, tours, and interviews; conduct information sessions, and serve with team members as primary back-up presenter when coverage is required;
    • Oversee coordination and creation of the Counselor on Duty calendar;
    • Hire, train, and schedule on-campus alumnae interviewers as needed;
    • Maintain daily statistical records of visit participants; work with Associate Director to analyze data for trends and make recommendations for changes/improvements as a result.
  • Directly manage recruitment, training, and supervision of volunteer student ambassadors.
  • Coordinate the organization, implementation, and evaluation of on-campus special events and special campus visit opportunities.
  • Interview prospective students on campus and via Skype and writes interview reports
  • Supervises, schedules, and manages payroll for student tour guides, and works in collaboration with Student Administrative Support to supervise student office workers.
  • Serves as territory manager to oversee recruitment of students in limited geographic territories.
  • Assist the Associate Director with writing and editing content for the web, email, social media, and print communications.
  • Assist with development and review of admission recruitment publications and correspondence.
  • Conduct recruitment travel as needed.
  • Evaluates admission applications
  • Prepares geographic and programmatic area summary reports
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned or directed.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred

• Three-five years of admissions experience or a combination of equivalent admissions and student services/visitor relations/communications experience

Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

• Exceptional organizational skills and detail orientation

Proven superior customer service orientation

High degree of comfort and experience with computer technology

• Ability to work independently and take initiative

• Ability to speak effectively before large groups or audiences

Strong knowledge of admission policies and best practices

Demonstrated supervisory experience of staff and/or volunteers

• Strong sense of teamwork and enthusiasm for working with college-bound and college students

• Ability to articulate the values and goals of a liberal arts education for women

• Willing and able to work outside of conventional work week and perform overnight travel

• Must possess a valid driver’s license
