Grays Ferry Public Tavern, 1870

Grays Ferry, Philadelphia, Pa.

A 3 1/2 storey deserted white building is central to the scene. Its porches are collapsing. There are piles of old lumber in front of the building. The building is in a state of disrepair. The Delaware River is in the background, and train tracks are in the foreground. It is a summer scene with the trees in full leaf. There are no human figures depicted.

After a photograph by Robert Newell.
