Aenne Ohnesorg, Senior Resident Scientist, Technical University of Munich

"The Artemision of Ephesos: A New Reconstruction of the 6th c. B.C. 'Kroisos Temple'"

Having investigated the architectural fragments of the famous Archaic Temple of Artemis at Ephesos (Turkey) for more than ten years under the auspices of the Austrian Institute of Archaeology,  Dr.-Ing. Aenne Ohnesorg will present her brand-new graphic reconstruction of this much-disputed marble temple.  Her talk will survey the major features of this reconstruction as well as its significant divergences from former attempts.  Dr. Ohnesorg’s monograph  Der Kroisos-Tempel. Neue Forschungen zum archaischen Dipteros der Artemis von Ephesos (Vienna 2007) has just appeared.
