Fenghuang Landscape and Miao Culture

This selection of photographs by scholar and artist Bode Wang represents the environment, human communities, social customs, and religious practices in his hometown of Fenghuang in Hunan Province, People's Republic China.

 

Wang has devoted himself to promoting the understanding and appreciation of his Miao homeland’s landscape and culture. He shares his photographs of the colorful and sophisticated Miao world with the Bryn Mawr Community as part of the 360˚ course cluster, Eurasia in Flux: Trans-Siberian Perspectives on Russia and China.

The exhibition at Bryn Mawr is supported by the Luce Initiative on Asian Studies and the Environment (LIASE), East Asian Languages and Cultures Department, the Provost’s Office and its 360˚ program, Library and Information Technology Services (LITS) and its Department of Special Collections, Endowed Lectures Fund, and Langlois Memorial Fund.

The exhibition is part of the 360˚ course cluster, Eurasia in Flux: Trans-Siberian Perspectives on Russia and China.
