Inc: In Christi Nomine Amen. Anno a natiuitate domini Quadrigentesimo uigesimo tercio. Incaepit imperare Theodosius minor et imperauit viginti sex annis. Theodosius dei gratia Romanorum Imperator semper augustus in imperio constitutus a theodosio suo Patruo qui per potentiam imperium acquisiuit.

Expl.: Si quis autem tam audax forte extiterit qui huic nostre sententie non satisfecerit presenti Anno vita illius finiatur et ne ultra dilatetur corpus quoque mortui minime differratur in vrbem. ne simili occasione amplius ciuitas illa tale detrimentum patiatur. Data Mediolani in nostro Palatio episcopali. Tevlo" f. 3 ruled but blank.

Diploma supposticium Theodosi minoris Augusti, per quod Gymnasium Bononiense institutum ab eo fertur. Anno Christi 433;L. A. Muratori, ed., Antiquitates Italicae Medii Aevi (Milan, 1740) vol. 3, c. 21-23. MS 105 differs substantially from Muratori's printed text.

Parchment (folded, waterstained), ff. i (modern paper) + 3 + i (modern paper), 215 x 143 (143 x 112) mm., written in 32 ruled lines, with single vertical bounding lines full length in ink (Derolez 13.11).

Written in a small humanistic cursive bookhand above the top line.

Paragraph markers, sentence strokes in red.

Binding: Italy; laid in red silk folder with cardinal's arms stamped in black on top and bottom board.

Written in Italy in the late fourteenth or early fifteenth century. Early provenance unknown. Obtained from Libreria gia Nardechia, Rome in 1950 by Howard L. Gordan, and given by him to Phyllis Goodhart Gordan and John Dozier Gordan, Jr.
