The Theresa Helburn Theatre Collection

College Collections and Special Collections, Bryn Mawr College

The Theresa Helburn Theater Collection includes over 1400 photographs, 160 playscripts, 139 ground plans, 171 theater programs, and numerous advertisements and other theatrical ephemera. Helburn donated these materials to the College shortly before her death in 1959. Helburn also left much of her personal library of published works on dramatic literature and theater history to the College.

The 1417 photographs are housed in 18 boxes in the Art and Artifacts Collection, Special Collections Department,. Information about over 1100 of these photographs related to her work with the Theatre Guild is now available through Triptych, a database of visual materials from the collections of Bryn Mawr, Haverford, and Swarthmore Colleges. Since copyright restrictions apply to many of the photographs, some images are only available to students, faculty and visitors to these college campuses.

The non-photographic materials in the collection are housed in 26 boxes in the Manuscripts Collection, Special Collections Department. Information about these holdings is available from the Finding Aid on this Collection Guide.
