General Images

Art Images for College Teaching

Freely available images, mostly of ancient, medieval, and Renaissance European art and architecture.

Artstor

A digital library that provides access to thousands of digital images derived from a variety of museum, library and archival collections, including Tri-Co Visual Resources Collections. Images support a variety of disciplines including architecture, painting, sculpture, photography, decorative arts, and design. Coverage varies.

Catena

The Digital Archive of Historic Gardens and Landscapes and its companion website, is envisioned as part of a larger, typologically organized archive of digital images with accompanying educational materials. The initial component of Catena is built around the villa, an important landscape type in garden history.

Flickr

Personal photographs of practically anything; many of which are excellent, and which the photograph owners will allow anyone download and use for non-commercial purposes.  Particularly good for photographs of architecture and archaeological sites. Check for copyright and permissible use under "Additional Information" for each photograph

Grove Art Online

Articles in Grove Art link to external sources (museum and gallery websites). Grove Art also links to the Bridgeman Art Library and Art Resource, which are commercial image providers.

World Images

Nearly 50,000 art and other images intended for teaching and research purposes.  Extensive art and archaeology collection.

World Memory Net

GMNet is a gateway to invaluable resources from around the world. Over 2400 digital collections from over 80 countries were identified and integrated with the current GMNet collections for instant retrieval.
