Recording Videos with LLC Webcams
1) Check out a webcam from the monitor's desk and give your ID
to the monitor. If you would like to record sound as well, you
can use the headset on Mac station 13.
2) Plug in the webcam into the firewire port 1 or 2 on Mac station
13.
3)
Find the BTV Carbon icon at the bottom of the screen and click on
it. After the application opens, you should now see a small video
screen showing the camera's current view. If you do not see the
video screen, go to the video size menu on the top of the screen
and click on any size. There should also be a smaller window that
says "capture frame" and "capture movie." If
you do not see this window, go to the capture menu on the top of
the screen and click on "show capture controls window."
4)
To record a movie, position the webcam as you want it to be and
then click "capture movie." The video screen should
be showing what it is recording, and the capture controls window
should indicate the elapsed time of recording.
5) To stop the recording, click on "stop capturing movie."
Then you should be able to see a window that allows you to play
the video that you've just recorded.
6) To save the recording, to go file and click on Save As....
7) Video files are usually too big to be saved on floppy or
Zip disks. Ask a lab assitant about burning your files to CD or
putting them on the server.
