Resources in the Language Learning Center
Canaday 315 has 16 student computers with mutli-lingual text editing and digital audio and video software, wired and wireless network connectivity, a laser printer, and a presentation station with a computer, digital projector, and a region-free, multi-standard DVD/VHS video player. Bryn Mawr faculty and staff may reserve this room for classes and meetings by contacting the Director. In addition to its technology resources, Canaday 315 also houses the LLC’s collections of audio and video recordings and reference books. Reserve materials now are located on the Library's first floor.
Canaday 311, our video viewing room, has a large screen television, a region-free, multi-standard DVD/VHS video player, and a satellite receiver for SCOLA. Bryn Mawr faculty, staff, and students may reserve this room on Tripod for group screenings, and, when not in use, it is available on a first come, first served basis for video viewing. The key is at the Circulations Desk on Canaday’s first floor.
Computers and Peripherals
The LLC's computers have web cameras and headsets with microphones. Room 315 also has a digital projector and a multi-standard, region-free DVD/VCR for group screenings of foreign videos.
Media Collection
The LLC's audio and video recordings are cataloged in Tripod and can be checked out on Canaday Library's first floor at the Circulation Desk by Tri-College faculty, staff, and students.
Reference and Reserves
The LLC's reference books do not circulate and are for in-house use only. Reserve materials for all courses are housed on the first floor of Canaday Library. Students may search by course or instructor using the link below.
iTunes U. and Online Media
Online media storage is available on iTunes U. Bryn Mawr's iTunes University store is accessible only through specific Moodle course sites. To download the media files posted there, please consult your instructor. Older streaming audio recordings can be found via the link below.
Mango Languages Online
Mango is an online language-learning system that teaches conversation skills for 37 different languages. With easy-to-follow interfaces, practical conversation skills, and audio from native speakers, Mango offers a variety of ways to improve speaking and listening skills. For use at BMC or off campus via EZProxy log-in.
Satellite Television
BMC community members may watch SCOLA's channel one in Canaday 311. Bryn Mawr faculty and students also may use many of SCOLA's online services by logging into the brynmawr.edu user account with the password scola2345 via the link below. Please note that access is limited to the Bryn Mawr College academic community.
