The following information and application forms are available in this downloadable PDF: Clare Boothe Luce Application

Description of the Program

Bryn Mawr College has received funding through the Clare Boothe Luce Program of the Henry Luce Foundation to cover tuition, fees, room, and board for one semester of the senior year for one current junior math major (Class of ’11). We are seeking students who have distinguished themselves in their first 3 years at the College through excellence in coursework and a commitment to mathematics outside the classroom. Preference will be given to a student who is seriously considering pursuing graduate studies in mathematics.

Selected scholars will participate in a program of mentoring, leadership and outreach opportunities, and professional development activities. The scholars will regularly meet with faculty to discuss numerous topics related to obtaining a PhD and career options with advanced degrees. The CBL scholars will participate in activities such as developing a series of talks targeted to undergraduate math majors and mentoring underclassmen by serving as a PLI for a calculus course.

Restrictions

  1. Recipients must be declared math majors (in junior year) who will hold the scholarship for 1 semester.
  2. Scholarships are merit based; eligibility for financial aid is not a requirement.
  3. Recipients must be US citizens.
  4. Premedical science majors are not eligible.
  5. Scholarship funds may not be used for travel or study abroad.
