Steps to take to try to make sense of problem:

- read carefully

- visualize it; make a model – paper/sketch/physical one

- connect variables with sketch/ label picture

- see what you know and what is unknown

- write down the variables

- look for units

- make a clear object; ie figure out what you are trying solve

- determine initial conditions

- do not be afraid to ask for help

- translate word statement into a Differential Equation

- solve differential and use initial condition to find particular solution.
