Dear Educator, December 12, 2003

Bryn Mawr College is seeking teachers engaged in some aspect of *changing pedagogy in science or math education, be it a big or a little change, to host an undergraduate student in their classroom. The students will be enrolled in the course: Changing Pedagogies in Math and Science Education, to be jointly taught by Bryn Mawr College and Arcadia University in spring 2004. This course combines academic theory with practical experience; the college students will each have a 4-hour per week field placement in which they will gain hands-on experience in teaching techniques by assisting their host teacher. If you are interested in participating or have questions, please contact Robyn Newkumet (address below). We appreciate hearing from or about interested teachers, so please pass this information on to others. I am hoping to actually make arrangements to speak with volunteers before Christmas break if possible.

Host teachers will have:

Sincerely yours,

Robyn Newkumet (HOST TEACHER CONTACT)

*Note that a teacher’s "changing pedagogy" can range from trying a new approach or a new topic in his or her teaching (a personal change) to learning and implementing a new curriculum as part of a school or district-wide initiative (systemic change). This could be work in progress as a result of curriculum changes in previous years as well as changes instituted for the first time this year.
