Math 104

April 20, 2005                                                  name ______________________________

SPSS Exam

(due by 2:10pm April 29, 2005)

This exam is the final course requirement related to SPSS and the computer labs.

Please use SPSS version 11.5 or 12.0.1.  It is safest to use one of the Windows machines at Guild or in the Science Library.  The databases used — salary.dat  and  renal.dat — are stored on the Bryn Mawr network in the folder Pubdata/MATH on Pollux.Data.Acads.Data (P:), and identical files can be downloaded from the Math 104 website, starting at www.brynmawr.edu/math/people/stromquist/math104/index.html.

You must work alone.  You may use the Math 104 texts, all class materials including your own SPSS and other homework, and notes you have made yourself.  You may use a calculator.  You may contact the instructor, get non-statistical help from computer staff, and refer to the Math 104 website, but you may not otherwise consult with anyone or refer to the internet.

Write the answers on the exam itself (when possible).  Attach to it all the SPSS output that is specifically asked for.  You can print it directly or copy it into a word processor document.  You don’t need to turn in scratch paper or irrelevant pages.

There is no time limit, but you should turn in the exam within 12 hours after picking it up.  Seal it in its envelope, write the times you picked it up and completed it, and return it to my office or to class.  It is due no later than the start of class on April 29.

The exam consists of 9 numbered questions on pages 2-6.
