Math 201 (section 3)
October 4, 2004
Read:
ASAP: Section 15.3 (except Cobb-Douglas section) and 15.4.
For class Wednesday: pp. 951-953, on higher-order partials and partial differential equations.
For after the break: Sections 15.5 and 15.6.
Don't forget homework 5 (coordinate systems), due before the break.
Problems to turn in:
Section 15.3 (first-order partials): 3, 8, 14, 16, 18, 28, 35, 36
(The notation in 3c doesn't necessarily make sense, but to see what the author is getting at.
Remember that dW/dv is still a function of T and v.)
Section 15.3 (second-order and PDEs): 47, 51 --- four answers each (or are three enough?) --- and 68 parts a and f.
Section 15.4: 2, 4, 6, 20. (We'll do 32 in class.)
(end)
