Read section 15.7 (maxima, minima) and as much as you like of 15.8 (Lagrange multipliers). Read page 1000 (quadratic approximations).
No Quiz Monday, Nov. 1.
We'll start on integrals about November 3, beginning with arc length (Sec. 14.3) and a review of one-dimensional definite integrals. On November 1 we'll cover quadratic approximations and the second derivative test (p.990) and define our fifth kind of derivative.
Problems to turn in (Wed., Nov. 3)
Section 15.7: 5, 6, 7, 10
Section 15.8: 1, 3, 4, 23. No explanation required on 1. Problem 23 might be easier without Lagrange multipliers, but please use that method anyway.
