Problem sessions: Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, always 7-8pm in Park 337, led by Teaching Assistants Zoryanna Dopko (Tu,S) and Ayesha Gopal (Thur). These are optional but many students find them helpful.

Course content: We'll cover chapters 1-6 of the text. The chapters fall into three parts:
      Ch. 1-2: Solving systems of linear equations, systematically;
      Ch. 3-4: Solving them again, more abstractly (i.e. vector spaces and transformations);
      Ch. 5-6: Orthogonality and eigenvalues.

Course requirements: There will be two exams (dates TBD) and a self-scheduled final exam. Homework will be collected regularly and there will be a project due near the end of the semester. You are encouraged to work together with other students on homework and to use any resources that you find helpful, provided that you write up your solutions yourself. Late homework is likely to incur a penalty. Grading (subject to change): two exams 25% each, final 30%, homework and projects 20%.

Students who need special accommodations in this course because of a disability or for any other reason are encouraged to meet with me privately early in the semester.
