Pedagogies in Math and Science, Education
220: a course co-taught by Dr. Victor Donnay,
Professor of Mathematics, Bryn Mawr College and Dr. Deborah Pomeroy, Associate
Professor of Science Education, Arcadia University, spring 2004. Students
learned about new approaches to math and science teaching and got to see
these approaches being implemented as they assisted in local classrooms.
- Math
and Science Pedagogy Lecture Series: a weekly lecture series
accompanying the Changing Pedagogies course in which a wide range of stake
holders in educational reform in the region spoke. The lecture series took
place on Thursday evenings, 7:00-8:30pm in room 338, Park Science
Building.
- A
half-day workshop for math and science faculty from Bryn Mawr, Haverford and Swarthmore in which
faculty shared and discussed their efforts at new pedagogical approaches.
The workshop was organized by Xenia Morin and Samatha Glazer, Keck
Foundation Post-Doctoral Fellows at Bryn Mawr.
- America
Counts Math Tutoring, sponsored by the Community Service Office, in which
Bryn Mawr students tutored local elementary, middle, and high school
students in mathematics. The MSPGP paid transportation costs for the students.
- Reform
Calculus: Jeff
Tecotsky-Feldman of the Haverford Mathematics Department taught a
summer course on reform calculus to teachers from the MSPGP.
