WINGED WORDS ALIGHT IN CANADAY GALLERY

Photo from Show

The work of mixed-media artist Chris Mills of St. Davids will be featured at an exhibition, "Here There Be Angels," at Bryn Mawr College's Canaday Library Gallery, Feb. 21 through March 30. The opening reception is Monday, Feb. 21, from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Gallery hours are Monday to Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. , and Saturday to Sunday, 1-4:30 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, call 610-526-5210.

Mills terms the exhibition "an inquiry into the origin, nature and fate of language." In it, winged books are suspended from the ceiling, each with a single word printed on its spine; the wings bear photographic images. "By assembling separate words to form coherent phrases, I hope to show how wondrous the process of language can be," says the artist. A graduate of Haverford College, Mills is also a documentary filmmaker and jewelry designer.
