Anthropology Professor Philip Kilbride Awarded Fulbright to Study in the Czech Republic

To the list of 2007-08 Bryn Mawr Fulbright winners, add Professor and Chair of Anthropology Philip Kilbride, who will spend the spring of 2008 teaching, writing and doing research in the Czech Republic.

		Fulbright Winner Hanna Reiss: When Healing Styles Collide Anthropology major Hannah Reiss '07 will use her Fulbright fellowship to conduct an ethnographic study of the health-care choices made by pregnant women on a remote Indonesian island.

		Report from the Field: Nora Sidoti '07 on Students and the Transformative Power of Theater For Nora Sidoti, a senior theater major with a special interest in arts education, some of the most enlightening moments of her last semester at Bryn Mawr were actually spent in West Philadelphia.

		May Day Offers a Daylong Moratorium on Academic Effort May Day 2007 will be celebrated at Bryn Mawr on Sunday, May 6. The Convocation in Goodhart, at which academic awards are announced, will take place at 8:45 a.m., and the procession to the Maypole will start at 9:30 a.m.

		Cities Professor Carola Hein Wins Guggenheim Fellowship to Fund Study of the Global Architecture of Oil Carola Hein has won a 2007 Guggenheim Fellowship, awarded by the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, on the basis of "distinguished achievement in the past and exceptional promise for future accomplishment."

		Fulbright Winner Laura Brymer '07: Crossing Borders, Geographic and Disciplinary A Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship to Hong Kong will offer Brymer an opportunity to travel to East Asia, an area that has long interested her. "It seemed like a great opportunity to go abroad, but not just as a tourist," Brymer says.

		A Herd of Frisky Robots Illustrates the Appeal of an Innovative Computer Science Curriculum Twenty-four blue "Scribbler" robots were dancing, drawing and making music in a Park Science Building classroom as students showed off what they've accomplished in a groundbreaking computing course.

		One of Four Fulbright Fellows, Elizabeth Rhoads Will Study Land and Cultural Identity in Bali Elizabeth Rhoads '07, an anthropology major with a concentration in peace and conflict studies, will spend her Fulbright year studying the complexities of cultural identity and land ownership in Bali.
